On 28th April 2026, the team at Diamond and Son hosted their very first Great FP Healthy Bake Off competition in Lymington — a fun-filled event designed to strengthen team spirit and bring colleagues together away from the usual pace of branch life.
The bake off welcomed staff from both the front and back of house, including Funeral Director Emma, Funeral Arrangers Kim and Lisa, and Funeral Service Operatives Sam, Rosie and Sarah. The event created a relaxed and enjoyable break in the middle of a busy day, giving everyone the opportunity to catch up over tea and cake while enjoying some friendly competition.
The competition was judged blind by Senior Funeral Service Operative Paul Hawkes alongside local celebrant Mrs Julia Pitt, adding excitement and anticipation to the day.
After a difficult decision from the judges, congratulations went to Sam Sheppard, Funeral Service Operative, who took first place for her delicious school cake. Kim Ball, Funeral Arranger, was awarded runner-up for her impressive depression cake creation. Certificates were presented to celebrate the winners and everyone’s efforts.
The event proved to be a meaningful team-building activity, helping colleagues connect, socialise and enjoy a welcomed moment together as a branch. Most importantly, it encouraged staff involvement and created lasting memories through a little healthy competition and plenty of cake.
